How do I find out if my fixtures are cancelled?
The Wet Weather Line and Social Sport website can be updated up to one hour before the games are due to start. This allows the greatest possibility for the games to go ahead if the weather is uncertain.
It is strongly advised that all players check either the Wet Weather Line or the Social Sport website before they leave for their games to check for last minute cancellations.
UQ Sport will not be held responsible for teams that do not check this line before arriving.
Who updates the line/feed?
Should there be inclement weather prior to the competition; the Programs Officer will decide whether or not the games will go ahead. The severity of the weather will determine the time at which the wet weather line/feed is updated.
Once the games begin, it is up to the Convenor (court manager) to cancel or continue the games. The Convenor will then advise the Programs Officer to update the wet weather line/feed. Again, it is advised that teams ring the wet weather line or check this webpage before they leave home for the most up to date information regarding cancellation of games.
What if there is no update for my day?
This line is only updated when games are cancelled. Hence, if there is no updated message for your particular game day, you can assume that the games are going ahead as scheduled. If you have any further enquires you may ring UQ Sport Reception on (07) 3365 6612. However, please note that they are only informed to the extent of the wet weather line. The wet weather line is the most up to date information and should be the first point of call in poor weather (particularly on weekends).
What happens if a game is rained out?
As we are a University Based Competition, and use external venues, we are forced to operate under severe time limitations and it is difficult to simply extend the competition for a week should games be cancelled due to wet weather. For this reason, should any games be cancelled due to rain, we will do our best to reschedule, but we will not guarantee that this will happen.
Team contacts will be notified by email of any changes. Should normal games be rained out and not be able to be replayed, the game will be declared a draw and competition points will be awarded as such. Should any finals games be cancelled due to rain, we will take all steps to reschedule the games.
