The Accredited Exercise Physiologists at the UQ Inter-Professional Clinics work with clients on a one-to-one basis and provide physical activity and behaviour change support for people with conditions such as:
- Chronic diseases (eg. obesity, diabetes)
- Musculoskeletal (eg. scoliosis, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, back pain and injury rehabilitation)
- Ageing (eg. falls prevention and gait patterning)
- Cancer
- Neurological disorders (eg. Parkinsons, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimers and depression)
- Cardiovascular (eg. arrhythmias, hypertension and angina)
Our tailored individual exercise programs aim to improve cardiovascular function, muscular strength, functional ability, exercise tolerance, self esteem, weight maintenance, fatigue and and overall quality of life. Whether you have a chronic disease or would simply like to improve your general well-being, one of our Exercise Physiologists can help you.
The initial consultation involves a one hour health evaluation which enables us to design a personalised program to suit your individual needs. Your Accredited Exercise Physiologist will monitor and modfiy your program as you progress.
Cancer program
The Cancer Rehabilitation Program is conducted by an Accredited Exercise Physiologist at The University of Queensland St. Lucia campus who has been trained and has experience in Medical Exercise and Cancer Rehabilitation Programs. The program is available for individuals who have recently been diagnosed, are in treatment as well as those who are post treatment and/or in survivorship.
Exercise psychology service
Feeling stressed? Going through a rough period in your life? Trying to get motivated to lose weight? Let us help you with two free introductory sessions with a Sport and Exercise Psychologist.
They can assist you with:
- managing weight
- motivation for diet and exercise
- balancing lifestyle
- adjustment to new life circumstances
- managing stress
- evaluating/decision making/understanding
- the recovery process and associated issues
Each session is conducted by a provisionally registered Psychologist who is undergoing specialist post-graduate training in psychology. If further sessions are requested a discount clinic rate of $30.00 per session applies.

Please contact us to get the appropriate forms. Upon commencement of a personalised clinical program you are required to have an initial health evaluation with an Accredited Exercise Physiologist. This comprehensive health evaluation enables us to assess your individual requirements and provide you with your own program that assits you to achieve your goals. Your General Practitioner can also refer (PDF) you to us.
