Australian University Games (AUG) |
The Australian University Games (AUG) is an amalgamation of a number of intervarsity competitions previously held as individual sports events. The first Australian University Games was held at The University of Queensland in 1993.
Australian University Sport (AUS) is the peak governing body of university sport in Australia and currently has 41 members, which represents more than one million students. Any student who is currently enrolled in a degree, diploma, certificate or higher award at an educational institution that is affiliated with AUS is eligible to compete in the sporting program.
2011 result: The University of Queensland finished 4th.

*Qualification required for Australian University Games
Certain sports require teams to qualify at the regional games prior to participating at the Australian University Games. The sports of basketball, football, hockey, netball and touch football all fall within the new qualification policy guidelines (PDF). Teams will be required to qualify for AUG in these sports at the Northern University Games in July, unless they were awarded pre-qualification at the 2011 AUG’s.

The cost to attend AUG in 2012 is:
$375 + $150 BOND (bond re-fundable – conditions apply)
Payable in the following instalments:
BOND Payment: $150 – Due 13 August 2012
Payment 2: $200 – Due 27 August 2012
Payment 3: $175 – Due 10 September 2012

Team UQ Uniform
Accommodation
Insurance
Cost EXCLUDES:
Player Registration Fee (payable to AUS)
Playing Uniform
Transport (to/from/around Adelaide)
Social Program / Opening Ceremony (payable to AUS)
In 2012, the following changes will be made to the Registration Process:
- Each athlete MUST Register and pay the Registration Fee directly to Australian University Sport (AUS). Register here.
- Each athlete MUST also register and pay the abovementioned costs to UQ Sport by the required deadline. You can register and make these payments in person at UQ Sport or online (link provided soon).
- Anyone wishing to purchase a Transport Pass or Opening Ceremony Ticket can do so through the AUS Registration form.
